Blog Banter #18 – My time with Eve
For his latest “Blog Banter” Ck asks:
On May 6th 2010, EVE Online celebrated its 7th Anniversary. Quite a milestone in MMO history, especially considering that it is one of the few virtual worlds out there to see its population continually grow year after year. For some of you who’ve been here since the very beginning, EVE has evolved quite a lot since its creation. With the expansion rolling out roughly twice a year, New Eden gets renewed and improved regularly. But, how about you the player? How has you gaming style evolved through the years or months since you’ve started playing? Have you always been a carebear, or roleplayer? Have you only focused on PvP or have you given other aspects of the game a chance – say manufacturing. Let’s hear your story!
My time with EVE….
My time in Eve has been short, I have two main characters an Indy/Science/PVE and a pure combat PVPer. Durz0 Blint (my first character) started off with PVE in mind, I joined a corp while running the Sisters of Eve Epic Arc missions and focused mostly on PVE. I soon got bored of missions and looked to the carebear side of Eve and decided to focus on more Indutry based stuff. My corp at the time was only really focused on PVE and PVP and so I decided to move back to Caldari space to find a new home. I Corp hopped for a while and after a while decided to go solo.
Within days I had created a Corp, anchored a POS and started down the manufacture and invention route. I enjoyed building modules and fittings, had some good success with T2 invention and construction and invested a lot of skill points and time into making sure I could invent anything and everything.
Currently Durz0 is making a living running missions, providing supplies for my PVPer and he will soon start scanning and maybe some WH exploration (cloaky Tengu sounds good to me).
While Durz0 was busy inventing I decided that I needed a more combat focused alt and so I went about creating Durzo Smith.
Durzo (notice the slight spelling difference) is pure combat trained and will remain that way. He is currently building up his core skills (gunnery being one of those) and will soon venture into T2 frigates (start small and work up to the big stuff). Currently Durzo is a proud member of the Dead Jesters a high sec/low sec pirate Corp. I’ve had some losses and some minor kills on solo roams but finding targets is hard where I am living at the moment.
As a player I like to put 100% into any Corp I’m in and I expect the same from others in the Corp. Life in the Jesters at the minute is a bit quiet but I’m hoping it will pick up soon. I’ve toyed with the idea of moving on for a while so I can get some more PVP experience and then look to return to the Jesters later but I haven’t decided yet. I guess only time will tell..
The future for myself and Eve, well lots more pew pew for Durzo and for Durz0 continue building on his Indy background and see what else I can invent..
