Me, my blog and Eve..

I’ve been playing Eve for about 6 months now and I decided a while ago that I would start a blog about it. Now I’m not the best writer in the world and I’ve never tried blogging about anything but after reading the blogs on Capsuleer I decided to give it a go.

I’ve spent a lot of time reading other Eve related blogs and they have provided a wealth of information about Eve and my hope is that in some small way I can do the same to my readers (if I have any..), failing that just provide an interesting read once in a while. 🙂

I’ve been spending some time trying to increase the traffic to my blog, I have a twitter account that I use for all things Eve (@Durz0Blint) and I’ve been added to the Eve Blog Roll so that I’m included in the long list of other Eve Bloggers..(some very good blogs in there).

My overall aim is that one day my blog will be included on the Eve Online Blog Pack which is a collection of some of the best Eve Online related blogs out there (I will list some of my favourites at the end).

I will continue to blog about my journey with Eve and I hope that I will over time have a regular following of Eve Online players and fans. If you have any advice or comments that could help improve my blog please let me know.

The death of a Jester…

The title caught your attention then??? No I’m not quitting Eve so you can’t have my stuff but what I am doing after much thought and consideration is leaving the Dead Jesters..

I’ve enjoyed my time with the Jesters but currently the level of corp activity and the absence of any Director based players being online really does limit what I can achieve flying solo. I hope to stay in touch with the Jesters as they are a really good bunch of people which has made my decision such a difficult one to make.

My new Corp which I intend to join, (once I have finished dropping my current roles) is a new corp still building its membership up but once the numbers are up and we’ve done some fleet training together will work towards getting some Merc contracts. One of the other benefits is that the Corp is run by 2 very experienced ex Tuskers (very known pirate corp), who I hope to learn a great deal from over the upcoming weeks and months.

After speaking to one of the directors last night we have already decided on the ship types and fittings I should be working towards, but on a positive note the skills I’ve already invested in are ideal for PVP (which is always nice to hear). I’m looking forward to building on my skills that I already have and becoming a useful member of the corp. 🙂

Below is a quick run down of the skills I’m going to work on next:

Engineering V (currently training, will end on Saturday night)
Mechanic V (will allow me to fly Assault Ships)
Advanced Autocannon IV
Energy Systems Operations V
Electronics Upgrades V (to get me into Stealth Bombers)
Cloaking III then IV

Of course this might all change and then there is the free SP from CCP pending so I might adjust the skills above to make maximum use of it.

More updates as I have them

Changes are on the Horizon

With Eve still being down (If CCP read this I’m more than happy to do some IT Consultancy work for you guys.. ) my plans for this week are delayed, luckily Durzo started on Engineering V this week and that isn’t due to finish till Saturday evening..

This week will see a change for Durzo (not a big one by some people’s standards) I won’t go into details yet but I’m looking forward to it and I hope it will help Durzo develop into a well rounded PVPer..

With regards to the extended downtime, if anyone is under the impression moving a data centre and upgrading some of your core infrastructure is a simple process let me tell you it’s not (I’ve done it a couple of times myself). Hopefully Eve will be back online and fighting fit soon and we can all return to our internet spaceships for more of what we enjoy.

Blog Banter #18 – My time with Eve

June 17, 2010 11 comments

For his latest “Blog Banter” Ck asks:
On May 6th 2010, EVE Online celebrated its 7th Anniversary. Quite a milestone in MMO history, especially considering that it is one of the few virtual worlds out there to see its population continually grow year after year. For some of you who’ve been here since the very beginning, EVE has evolved quite a lot since its creation. With the expansion rolling out roughly twice a year, New Eden gets renewed and improved regularly. But, how about you the player? How has you gaming style evolved through the years or months since you’ve started playing? Have you always been a carebear, or roleplayer? Have you only focused on PvP or have you given other aspects of the game a chance – say manufacturing. Let’s hear your story!

My time with EVE….

My time in Eve has been short, I have two main characters an Indy/Science/PVE and a pure combat PVPer. Durz0 Blint (my first character) started off with PVE in mind, I joined a corp while running the Sisters of Eve Epic Arc missions and focused mostly on PVE. I soon got bored of missions and looked to the carebear side of Eve and decided to focus on more Indutry based stuff. My corp at the time was only really focused on PVE and PVP and so I decided to move back to Caldari space to find a new home. I Corp hopped for a while and after a while decided to go solo.

Within days I had created a Corp, anchored a POS and started down the manufacture and invention route. I enjoyed building modules and fittings, had some good success with T2 invention and construction and invested a lot of skill points and time into making sure I could invent anything and everything.

Currently Durz0 is making a living running missions, providing supplies for my PVPer and he will soon start scanning and maybe some WH exploration (cloaky Tengu sounds good to me).

While Durz0 was busy inventing I decided that I needed a more combat focused alt and so I went about creating Durzo Smith.

Durzo (notice the slight spelling difference) is pure combat trained and will remain that way. He is currently building up his core skills (gunnery being one of those) and will soon venture into T2 frigates (start small and work up to the big stuff). Currently Durzo is a proud member of the Dead Jesters a high sec/low sec pirate Corp. I’ve had some losses and some minor kills on solo roams but finding targets is hard where I am living at the moment.

As a player I like to put 100% into any Corp I’m in and I expect the same from others in the Corp. Life in the Jesters at the minute is a bit quiet but I’m hoping it will pick up soon. I’ve toyed with the idea of moving on for a while so I can get some more PVP experience and then look to return to the Jesters later but I haven’t decided yet. I guess only time will tell..

The future for myself and Eve, well lots more pew pew for Durzo and for Durz0 continue building on his Indy background and see what else I can invent.. 🙂

    I’m back….

Well it’s been a while since my last post, a combination of a hectic work scheulde in RL and a drop in Eve related motivation to write posts but I’m back now…

The life of a pirate has been a bit slow for me over the last weeks, some internal stuff in our Corp has meant that things have slowed down. We are currently running without a CEO (due to some RL issues that I wouldn’t wish on anyone) and a lack of other “Director” role people being online. Not sure if it’s a lack of interest of just the summer being here but currently there are only 3 of us online the majority of time and we can’t currently recruit any new people.

That aside I have tried to keep the pirate spirit alive in the form of solo roams in low sec. I’ve killed a couple of frigates and last night got my first pod kill (frozen corpse is the hangar freezer) which was odd because the pilot came back a few minutes later and private convo’d me to ask me to do it again..(KB details are here:

Training wise I’ve been building up my core support skills, still got a few 4 day ones to complete but I’m getting there. In other 10 days I will be able to get into a Stealth Bomber (cloaky fun) and I’m not too far away from being in Assault ships either (oh the choices).

My Indy friend has been keeping busy, after looking for a new corp to join he’s decided to go back to running his own corp and is currently working on getting the necessary skills up to fly his new Raven for those lovely lovely lvl 4 missions.

    Fly crazy.
